Shannon Milliken
Shannon received her BS in Sports and Exercise Science with a K-12 Teaching Licensure and MAT in Physical Education from the University of Northern Colorado. She has experience teaching elementary and middle school physical education. Shannon is a Past-President of SHAPE Colorado and prior to her work at the Colorado Department of Education (CDE), she spent a majority of her time advocating for the importance of quality physical education programs at the district, state and national levels. She received SHAPE America’s (formally AAHPERD) Major of the Year Award in 2011, SHAPE Colorado’s (formally COAHPERD) Young Professional Award in 2013 and is a recipient of SHAPE Colorado’s Joy of Effort Award in 2019. Currently, Shannon is the Comprehensive Physical Education and Wellness Senior Consultant at CDE. She loves to network and collaborate with other professionals in the field and is excited about the opportunity of being able to share her passion for standards-based instruction and assessment and best teaching practices with others! In her spare time, Shannon enjoys spending time with her husband, Nick and two-year old, Kaylee, teaching Zumba® classes and is an attending OrangeTheory Fitness fanatic!
