Dear SHAPE Colorado Members,

On behalf of SHAPE Colorado, I am would like to welcome you to the 2019 Annual Convention. This is the 88th time we have come together to share ideas. Here, we can thrive in our profession by learning new ways to benefit our kids, our profession, and our state. We offer quality sessions, workshops, and demonstrations to enrich how you teach Health and Physical Education in Colorado.

The SHAPE Colorado Board has worked extensively to assure your convention experience is a success. Board members will be here as attendees, facilitators and presenters. If you see one of us, please take a moment to say, “Hello!”. You can find us in red board member shirts. We would love to meet you or reconnect with you and hear about your convention experiences.

Adventure FUN (Fast, Unique, New)
Join us for the "fun-side" of Adventure Education. Activities will focus on team building, problem solving, cooperation, trust and inclusion through games described as energizers! This is the new look Adventure curriculum that emphasizes the core values of Challenge by Choice, the Full Value "buy in" and working in the stretch zone of comfort. These activities are fast paced, fun, student approved and sure to produce smiles...the best of Adventure in Physical Education. Designed to be easy to teach and easy to reach students in Middle through High School with class sizes of 6 to 106.

PE from Coast to Coast
You might need to pack a suitcase for this fun-filled session! Jenna White, 2017 SHAPE America Northwest District Elementary PE TOY and Lynn Hefele 2017 SHAPE America Northeast Elementary TOY are all over the elementary physical education map with everything from instant activities and fitness fun to assessment and technology!  The itinerary for this trip will include a stop at the app store, some physical snacks, some pool noodle fun and much, much, more.  Whether you are looking to increase MVPA, meet SHAPE America standards or dive into technology make this the next stop on your professional development journey.

Engaging Activities and Strategies That Bring Health Skills Alive
Join us for a session filled with engaging strategies and activities that support both health skills and content.  This session will demonstrate how content can be infused through skill development.  Participants will walk away with a variety of health best-practice strategies to be used in any classroom!  This is an interactive session so be prepared to participate, laugh a lot and have fun.

OPEN Up Your PE Program
Participants will engage in a 3 hour session that promotes physical literacy, while maximizing student participation, engagement, empowerment, and leadership. Participants will take away information and materials, for lifelong activities and traditional sports which can be put into action immediately. Attendees will participate in multiple educational modules dissecting the embedded teacher tools such as progressions, academic language, Standards and Grade Level Outcomes, student debriefing questions, and teaching strategy. Finding ways to empower teachers so you can become the teacher you believe you can be.
