On behalf of SHAPE Colorado, I am would like to welcome you to the 2019 Annual Convention. This is the 88th time we have come together to share ideas. Here, we can thrive in our profession by learning new ways to benefit our kids, our profession, and our state. We offer quality sessions, workshops, and demonstrations to enrich how you teach Health and Physical Education in Colorado.

The SHAPE Colorado Board has worked extensively to assure your convention experience is a success. Board members will be here as attendees, facilitators and presenters. Program evaluation is a critical component of quality physical education programming. The P.E. for All Colorado Coalition has developed a P.E. policy model describing the essential components of quality physical education. This session will provide attendees with specific evidence-based methods for physical education program evaluation.

Physical Educators Shaping the Health of America
This session will discuss health related data showing a rise in cancers, diabetes, and other health issues among young adults. The session will outline important lifestyle related health issues afflicting today's young adults and address ways physical education could help our current students avoid those same health issues.

I Teach PE: I teach literacy every day!
Tired of word walls, students sitting, reading an article or writing a summary to integrate literacy into physical education? Come and learn new activities that encourage movement and analysis through the lens of disciplinary literacy. Participants will have an opportunity to examine and align current teaching to key literacy skills.
